YAMAHA P-525 BLACK 88-KEYS COMPACT DIGITAL PIANO
The top-of-the-line portable digital piano in the P Series. This model features wooden keys, CFX and Bösendorfer Voices, and offers the capabilities of an authentic piano in a sophisticated design, perfect for playing at home or in small live performances. Compatible with the optional LP-1/FC35 three-pedal unit.
The top-of-the-line model in the P Series, featuring authentic piano quality and functionality that will satisfy even experienced pianists
The P-525 is the flagship model of the world-renowned Yamaha P Series of compact digital pianos, offering authentic feel, exquisite sound, and further enhanced keyed instrument Voices.
The piano Voices are two world-class concert grand pianos: the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial.
Its speaker output and the variety and quality of its Voices, including organs and electric pianos, are vastly enhanced from its predecessor, the P-515.
The wooden keyboard—highly acclaimed for its feel—has been upgraded from the NWX keyboard to the 88-key GrandTouch-S™ keyboard. This brings the playing experience even closer to the touch of a grand piano.
With the Registration Memory function for saving and recalling settings and other useful and convenient features for intimate live performances, the P-525 is also well equipped to serve as a stage piano.
We recommend this model for:
- People who want the highest-quality portable pianos
- People who want to perform (solo or with a band) as well as play at home
- People who want a second piano
FEATURES
The GrandTouch-S keyboard offers a realistic playing feel
The P-525 features the highly playable GrandTouch-S keyboard, which also equips Yamaha’s top-flight Clavinova digital pianos. The feel of the keys is as close as it gets to the touch of a grand piano.
The GrandTouch-S keyboard also faithfully simulate tonal variation from subtle differences in how hard, quickly, and heavily they are played, affording grand piano-like variety and richness of tone. The keys are made of solid wood, and the laminated structure makes them resistant to warping and exceptionally durable.
Simulating the sound of two world-class concert grand pianos in a compact body
The P-525 is equipped with Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial Voices. The CFX is characterized by a sparkling treble and powerful bass, while the Imperial has a warm sound known as the Viennese tone.
Despite its compact size, the P-525 offers a full taste of the distinct qualities of these two great pianos.
Play realistic renditions of classic songs of yesteryear
The P-525 features improved organ, electric piano, and other keyed instrument Voices.
The engineers who achieved these improvements are experts in the sound of electric organs and electric pianos and the musical culture associated with them. Their efforts to create faithful, high-quality simulations of familiar sounds—the attack of an organ and the distinctive sound of its Leslie speakers, the reverb, distortion, and other sound effects of the electric pianos that defined 70s and 80s pop music—result in realistic, immersive experiences that make you feel like you are actually playing those instruments.
Equipped with convenient features for live performances
The P-525 features the Registration Memory function for saving and recalling settings, which is useful and convenient for intimate live performances in cafés, bars, and other small venues. You can program all the Voices and Rhythms in the comfort of home and call them up at the venue when you are ready to play. It is also easy to switch between Voices in the middle of songs.
Other features include Sound Boost and adjustable EQ to ensure that the piano can be heard when playing with other instruments in a band.
Voices
The P-525 is equipped with 542 different Voices, including 44 carefully selected Voices as well as 18 drum/SFX Kits and 480 XG Voices.*
The 44 Voices created for the P-525 include Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand and 11 other piano Voices, 9 electric piano Voices, and 6 organ Voices in addition to harpsichord, strings, guitar, and other unique Voices. The realistic, high-quality simulations of the distinctive sounds of each instrument give you access to a broad range of musical expression from a single instrument.
You can hear some of the Voices in the Voice introduction video. The video is at the bottom of this page.
*XG Voices are abundantly varied Voices suitable for use in a broad range of genres.
Songs
The P-525 comes with 71 preset songs, including 21 demo songs that are appropriate for each Voice, such as grand piano, electric piano, various organs including Jazz Organ, harpsichord, E.Clavichord, vibraphone and so forth. We encourage you to listen to these demo songs, which cover a variety of genres from light classical to baroque masterpieces, jazz, pop music and more, to get an idea of how the P-525 opens up possibilities for your musical expression.
You can preview the Voice demo songs at the bottom of this page.
Practice with headphones—whenever you want, as much as you want
One of the greatest advantages of a digital piano is the ability to practice while listening to what you play through headphones. This solves the problem of not wanting to disturb family members or neighbors when you play, not to mention eliminating the need for them to hear your playing when it’s not at its best.
*Headphones are optional
Metronome function
We recommend using the metronome if you want to practice along with a fixed tempo
Recording function
If you’re wanting to listen to your playing objectively, or to practice only your right hand along with what you play in your left hand, the recording function is just the thing you need
Rhythm function
If you get tired of playing alone, rhythm accompaniment is also available in genres such as rock, pop, jazz, and bossa nova. This is also a great way to learn genre-specific rhythms
Binaural sampling
Binaural sampling involves placing microphones by the player’s ears to pick up the sound of the Yamaha CFX during sampling. The result is that when you wear headphones while playing a P-525 with the CFX Grand Voice, the sound will sound like it is coming from a grand piano right in front of you, even though it is actually coming from the earpieces on the left and right sides of your head. It is completely different from the sound of a piano in stereo, and is so pleasing that you forget you are wearing headphones.
Yamaha is the only company that uses this technology for digital piano output into headphones. (Study by Yamaha, as of 2023)
We also developed the Stereophonic Optimizer function to achieve a similar effect for the piano Voices other than the CFX. Stereophonic Optimizer technology replicates the natural diffusion of sound in headphones nearly as closely as binaural sampling for the piano Voices other than the CFX
Bluetooth® audio and MIDI functionality for even more enjoyment
The P-525 features built-in Bluetooth® audio, which lets you pair this instrument with your Bluetooth®-enabled smartphone or tablet to listen to your favorite music through the instrument’s speakers. You can also play along with the sound coming from the instrument’s speakers.
Furthermore, built-in Bluetooth® MIDI functionality allows you to use the Smart Pianist app over a wireless connection.
*Availability of Bluetooth® varies by country or region
Sound Boost function for bringing out the sound of the piano
Have you ever been in a session with a band and felt that your sound was being overpowered by the other instruments and getting drowned out in the mix? Worry no more—the P-525 is equipped with a Sound Boost function that switches to a punchy and powerful sound for such situations.
The P-525 offers new settings for enhancing the instrument’s sound as you play and record, while audio data plays back on your smart device. Use this feature when you record using Yamaha’s Smart Pianist app or via Rec’n’Share.
OTHER FEATURES
Using the latest technology to simulate the rich resonance created by the acoustic grand piano mechanism
Acoustic grand pianos emit sound through the complex movements of a vast number of parts, namely hammers connected to the keys that strike strings inside a wooden case that amplifies the sound. This mechanism, which took centuries to perfect, is absent from digital pianos.
Yamaha uses proprietary know-how and technology to simulate the sound produced by the grand piano mechanism in its digital pianos.
Grand Expression Modeling digitally simulates tonal variance by accurately sensing the slightest differences in the speed and intensity of the player’s input.
Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) simulates and outputs the rich tones produced by the vibrations and sympathetic resonance of the strings, damper, body, and duplex scaling of a grand piano in response to the player’s input on the keyboard.
Deep, clear, natural sound
The two-way speakers produce all sounds from substantial bass and light treble clearly, with no distortion or noise. We angled the speakers slightly toward the bench so that you are enveloped by pleasing sounds as you play.
We also improved the speaker boxes. We used flared bass reflex ports and proprietary sound absorbing tubes to substantially reduce the wind noise, vibration noise, and other excess noise that tends to originate from speaker boxes. This allows you to enjoy higher sound quality when you perform.
The P-525 is also the first digital piano equipped with an FIR filter. The FIR filter is used to make fine adjustments to the phase of the sound, allowing people in the same room as the person playing to hear a naturally pleasing sound.
Access the features of this instrument with greater ease from the app
By linking the P-525 with Yamaha’s dedicated “Smart Pianist” digital piano app, you can intuitively perform all operations on the P-525 from the screen of your smart device. There’s no longer any need to pull out the manual to see how things work.
Sound that’s clearly distinguishable even at low volumes, reducing sonic fatigue
Have you ever turned down the volume because you were worried about sound leaking into the surrounding environment, only to find that the instrument becomes harder to hear or that it’s less rewarding to play? The P-525 is equipped with Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC), which automatically adjusts the sound quality according to your volume settings. This system makes it easier to hear the sound you play by slightly raising the volume of the treble and bass parts to match the characteristics of the human ear, which typically has trouble distinguishing the higher- and lower-end ranges at low volumes.
The P-525 now offers this feature for when you are using headphones. This makes it easier on your ears and allows you to enjoy playing comfortably, even when you practice with headphones for long periods of time.
Dedicated optional stand and sustain pedal available for more authentic performances
If you want to play your P-525 like an acoustic piano instead of casually on a tabletop or desktop, we offer an optional stand L-515 and three-pedal unit LP-1 (including damper pedal with half-pedaling capability) that works just like the pedals on a grand piano.
We also offer the optional three-pedal unit FC35 (which features a damper pedal compatible with the half-pedal function), and the included FC3A (a sustain pedal compatible with half pedaling)
*The pedal shown is the FC35.
Easily record sound and video, and upload your own performances
If you want to take a video of your performance and share it on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, Rec’n’Share is the way to go. Connect the P-525 to your smart device, and record both video and audio at the same time to complete your video.
*A cable connection is required. Make sure to purchase the correct cable for your smart device.
Easy to assemble
The optional stand can be easily and safely assembled, when purchased separately. When purchasing the dedicated stand, please purchase the L-515, which is compatible with the P-525.
